Spitfires victory away from OHL title

The Windsor Spitfires are one win away from winning their second consecutive OHL title.

A win on Tuesday night and the Spitfires can become the first back-to-back winners of the OHL title since the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in 1991 and 1992.

One of the differences in the series has been the play of Spitfires goaltender Philipp Grubauer. The sophomore goaltender has been solid in the series, especially in game three where he was the difference between a 5-2 win and a much closer score.

Speaking of difference-makers, Colts forwards Bryan Cameron and Luke Pither have been somewhat disappointing in the series.

Cameron, who scored 53 goals during the regular aeason, has not found the back of the net in the series and, despite generating some scoring chances in game three, doesn't have a goal in the final.

Pither scored 36 goals and 94 points during the regular season and had 15 points going into the OHL final. The overage forward has just one assist in the series.

Speaking of the OHL final, the OHL announced that forwards Zac Rinaldo and Darren Archibald of the Colts and Adam Wallace of the Spitfires have been suspended indefinitely.

Rinaldo was suspended for making contact with an official during game three. Wallace's suspension stems from a late hit he threw in the third period on the Colts Matt Kennedy.

Archibald finds himself suspended after running Grubauer in the final minute. With the Spitfires up 5-2, Archibald proceeded to run over Grubauer behind the Spitfires goal while he was out to play the puck. The Colts forward was given a match penalty for charging.
