Taylor Hall will not be suspended.
Hall was penalized for a check from behind on Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds rookie forward Nick Cousins. Hall received a double minor after his hit on Cousins left the 16-year-old bloodied by a cut that needed nearly 30 stitches to close.
It was learned today that Hall will not be suspended for the hit.
Ontario Hockey League VP Ted Baker told the Greyhounds the league was of the opinion that there wasn't an intent to injure on Hall's part.
I certainly hope that's true and it's not because Hall is one of the league's stars.
Let's face facts here, Hall getting suspended is publicity the OHL doesn't want. The league has faced media scrutiny enough over the course of the season thanks to Michael Liambas' hit on Ben Fanelli early in the season and more recently, Windsor forward Zack Kassian's hit on Barrie forward Matt Kennedy in January.
Both players received lengthy suspensions for their respective incidents, Liambas receiving the balance of the season while Kassian will return in the final days of the regular season after serving 20 games.
