NHL Draft - Day Two

A couple of surprises in the second round, most notably of the goaltenders selected.

The New York Islanders used the first pick of the second round to take Mikko Koskinen of Finland. Koskinen came out of nowhere in the second half of the season. In 33 games with Espoo of the Finnish Elite LEague, Koskinen posted a sparkling 1.91 goals against average. The catch is, the netminder turns 21 in July.

The other surprise is the fact that none of the top North American goaltenders have been selected through two rounds, be it Matt Hackett of the Plymouth Whalers, Ed Pasquale of the Saginaw Spirit or someone else. It's going to be interesting to see where they end up going.

More to come on Sunday
